Microchipping

Pet Microchipping

Microchips provide a permanent source of identification for your pet if they are lost. Collars and tags can come off your pet, but a microchip cannot be lost. Microchips are implanted just under the skin in between the shoulder blades and are approximately the size of a rice grain. Your pet does not feel the microchip and it is inert, so the body has no reaction to it being present. If your pet is ever lost and taken to a shelter, hospital, or picked up by animal control, it will be scanned to look for a microchip. The information on the microchip will be linked to you, and you will be contacted as the owner. Pets with microchips are more likely to be reunited with their owners than those who do not have this source of identification. As such, we highly recommend microchipping your pet.
