ABOUT THE VET

Dr. Angelina De Sanctis is a 2007 graduate of Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. Her area of speciality is small animal medicine and surgery, including dentistry. Dr. De Sanctis started Vet At Home in 2018. Her goal in starting the company was to provide exceptional and personalized care for pets in the comfort of their own home, and minimize stress often associated with traveling to a veterinary clinic. The other benefits of home veterinary care are being able to observe pets in their normal day to day environment. This is particularly beneficial for assessing behavioral cases. Home veterinary care is also ideal for pets with mobility issues, as well as owners who cannot get their pets to a hospital due to a disability, or having to transport multiple pets at once. Dr. De Sanctis truly enjoys getting to know her clients and their pets, often becoming an integral part of their families, and educating owners about preventative care so their pets can enjoy a long and healthy life.

In addition to being a veterinarian, Dr. De Sanctis is also a musician (classical cellist) and graduated from The Juilliard School of music in NYC. She comes from a family of musicians, but decided to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian later in life. Her other hobbies include salsa dancing, hiking, kayaking, traveling, wine-tasting, and cooking.

Advantages of In-Home Veterinary Care:

There are many advantages to in-home veterinary care. Most animals become stressed when traveling to a veterinary clinic, which is oftentimes an unfamiliar environment with other equally stressed animals and their owners! By traveling to your home, we are able to minimize this stress and better evaluate your pet in its natural home environment. This is also beneficial for assessing and answering behavioral questions which many pet owners have.

Many geriatric pets have mobility issues, making it more difficult to transport them with ease to a clinic. Likewise, many pet owners themselves have mobility issues due to age, recovering from a recent surgery, handicap, or other causes. This can lead to owners forgoing veterinary care simply because they cannot bring their pet in for an examination. By coming to your home we can provide quality veterinary care right in the comfort of your own home, and your pet can get the medical attention it needs and deserves!

One of the most important and meaningful services we provide is home euthanasia. Most pet owners prefer to have their cherished companion put to sleep in the familiar and comforting environment of their own home, rather than having such a procedure performed in the stressful and harried environment of a clinic. Such a dignified and peaceful passing brings a sense of comfort during an otherwise emotional and difficult time.
